The myth of the metropolis inspires the work of many artists. No place is in such transition, so full of life and positive restlessness as the city. Everything is in motion, and nothing is ever complete. In the city, there is no time for inward reflection: you either jump in headfirst or keep your distance. There is no such thing as "just a little" metropolis. In the exhibition Cross/Town, artists Larry Yust and Sabine Wild take up the challenge of the fast urban pace and show us in their works how individual the city’s influences and impressions can be.

flickr friday [9/11]
another year has passed since new york city and the rest of the world experienced the horror of terror on american soil. i remember like it was yesterday ... still living in germany and returning home after school as my brother told me that an airplane just hit the world trade center in new york city. i sat in front on the tv and froze just few months prior i was standing right in front of the towers looking up in the sky amazed how sturdy and tall the twin towers seemed to be. nobody had a clue that the iron.twins would be no more only few months later ... i could only imagine the chaos happening in the city that never sleeps.
the following year i moved to new york city and made it my home. home sweet home with a little bit of bitter.sweetness on days like 9/11. we remember those taken from us by the sheer terror that occurred on that day and celebrate those that made it and still fighting the aftermath that was left behind. a new day for the families that lost loved ones and all mankind to make sure that this madness never happens again!
[nīn'ĭ-lěv'ən] September 11, 2001, the date on which two hijacked airliners were flown into the World Trade Center in New York City and another into the Pentagon. A fourth hijacked airliner crashed in open land in Pennsylvania.

humble arts foundation
as i was reading my daily dose of artsy emails & updates i stumbled upon the humble arts foundation newletter. while browsing their website i came across the online solo and group shows (what a great way to get your art.fix without leaving your home). and the present group exhibition happened to catch my eye. specifically the work of sarah stonefoot if you have few minutes feel free to check it out by clicking on the image and also visit her personal website.flickr friday [ethnicity]
i must admit i am not a big fan of television but at times i find myself watching shows that capture my attention and seem to have interesting content ... sort of inspirational nature. the past sunday i found myself hooked on the human family tree show on NatGeo ... interesting where we all come from and how we turned out in "so many colors" ... after all we are one big family!
therefore this weeks flickr friday is all about ethnicity.

sony alpha 850
from day one i have been a sony girl. i heard all the opinions from others about sony's dslr line and so far i made up my mind and will stick with it. and just in time to write my letter to santa sony has come out with the alpha 850 (i thought first they would bring out perhaps a 800 but who knows the logic behind the sony master mind). it is a full frame camera with a price tag around $2000 and yes i am aware it's not the camera that makes great images but the photographer! and with all that said if you wish to learn more read the review on DigitalPhotographySchool.com and looking forward to my images that i hopefully will be able to shoot with my new sony alpha 850100 strangers
